Four CFCC riders travelled to Thurso on Saturday to take part in the Caithness Race Weekend hosted by Caithness CC.
First up was a Mack Mowatt Memorial 25 tt on Saturday afternoon the outward leg out through Watten was helped by a strong tailwind making it good going but once round the turn it was into the wind all the way back to Thurso making the return hard. The race was won by Callum Finlayson (Forres CC) in a time of 58.50mins with Kevin Lackie (MCRT) in 2nd with a time of 59.54mins and Calum Irvine (Cairgorm CC) in 3rd with a time of 1.00.26. David Stuart was the fastest CFCC rider finishing 4th overall in a time of 1.01.18 and getting 2nd vet std prize, with Nigel Levett in 8th overall in a time of 1.03.38 and Dariuz Badlya in 19th with a time of 1.10.41 and Scott Macdonald in 21st with a time of 1.10.54.
On Sunday morning the four became five as Mike Gordon joined them for the 10tt. Conditions were just as on Saturday at the 25tt with a tailwind out to the turn. David was the fastest CFCC rider again finishing in a time of 23.41mins in 7th overall. Mike was next in 8th place with a time of 23.51mins to win 3rd vet std then Nigel in 12th overall in 24.38mins. Scott got the better of Dariusz this time finishing in 26.37mins for 20th overall and Dariusz in 26.53mins and 23rd overall.
On Sunday afternoon it was onto the Loch Calder 11mile hilly. This time Mike was the fastest CFCC rider finishing in a time of 30.10mins in 7th overall and getting 3rd vet std. David was next in 31.02mins in 11th with Nigel in 12th with a time of 31.29mins. Dariusz was next CFCC in 16th overall in a time of 33.58mins with Scott in 17th in a time of 34.18mins.
CFCC picked up a further two prizes for the weekend overall with Nigel getting 3rd vet std overall and David getting 2nd vet std overall.
